New HazeXperience Album Delivers Raw Blast of Rock 'n' Roll
Hang A Crooked Number Features Final Recordings of Drummer Leonard Haze; Available November 18th

Oakland, California—November 11, 2016—HazeXperience will release their new album, Hang A Crooked Number, on November 18th. This raw blast of rock 'n' roll features the final studio recordings of legendary original Y&T drummer Leonard Haze, who passed away on September, 11, 2016. The album, which will be available on CD and via digital download, can be pre-ordered today on iTunes (http://bit.ly/hazexalbum). All pre-orders receive an instant download of the new song, "Cut It Loose."

Haze had completed drum tracks for five songs before his passing. Those five songs appear on the 11-track album, along with five bonus live, demo, and rehearsal tracks. Also included on the album is a song written for Haze the day after he died by lead singer Jeffrey Winslow. The song, entitled, "For Leonard," is the only track that doesn't feature Haze's iconic drum work.

Of the five bonus tracks, two are Y&T classics, and another two are Willie Dixon-penned Blues songs made famous by Muddy Waters, Cactus, Jeff Beck, and Led Zeppelin.

"Our goal was to do justice to his life and legacy, and follow through with his desire to release this album," explained Winslow.

At the time of Haze's death, HazeXperience had been announced as the opening act for two Y&T shows at the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, November 18-19. Subsequently, Y&T singer/guitarist Dave Meniketti told the band he would still like them to do the shows. HazeXperience will be playing those sold-out shows in tribute to the memory of Haze.

Original Y&T Drummer Leonard Haze Passes Away At 61

Hayward, California—September 12, 2016—Leonard Haze, original drummer for legendary Bay Area rock band Y&T, passed away Sunday evening, September 11, 2016, at his home in Hayward. He was 61 years old.

Haze had been battling chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for several years, making breathing difficult. Even so, he had fought to keep playing drums, performing regularly with his band, HazeXperience, and joining Y&T on-stage at the Fillmore in San Francisco in both 2015 and 2016. HazeXperience was scheduled to open for Y&T at the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma November 18 and 19, and had been in the midst of recording an EP of new material.

"Leonard was not only a bandmate but a close friend, sharing not just a passion for music but also our appreciation for fast cars and cool RC planes," said HazeXperience guitarist Jim Bradley. "Leonard was taken from us way too soon."

"Leonard was a good friend, a great drummer, and a true ambassador for the world of rock 'n' roll," said Jeffrey Winslow, lead singer for HazeXperience. "I'm shocked that he's gone, but thankful I got to know him while he was here."

Haze was a founding member and one of the principal songwriters for the Bay Area hard rock band Yesterday & Today, later known as Y&T. He co-wrote some of their biggest hits, including "Hurricane," "Black Tiger," "Mean Streak," "Rescue Me," "Dirty Girl," "Forever," and MTV staple "Summertime Girls."

It was Haze's bass drum prowess that made his powerful drumming style legendary and, thanks to it, Y&T quickly developed the reputation as a must-see live band and musical powerhouse, headlining shows with opening acts such as Van Halen, Mötley Crüe, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and many others. Y&T's hard-driving style helped them land worldwide tours alongside such acts as AC/DC, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, and Rush, which resulted in the development of a strong following throughout Europe.

In the early Nineties, Haze played drums on Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan's solo album, Toolbox. Gillan subsequently asked him to join the band, and Haze was part of one of the first rock bands ever to not only perform, but tour, behind the "Iron Curtain," traversing the Soviet Union during the cold war. After that tour, Haze became a permanent member of the Ian Gillan Band, continuing with a two-year world tour and performing in 71 countries.

In 2002, Haze reunited with Y&T and went back on tour with them throughout the United States until they parted ways in 2006.

Haze's final performance took place August 20 with HazeXperience at the Quarter Note in Sunnyvale.

Lead singer Winslow spent six years working at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, where he was in charge of producing all marketing collateral, designing and maintaining the private non-profit organization’s website, and writing and distributing all press releases, among myriad responsibilities. The songs, which were created for the 2002 and 2003 fairs, were used in both television and radio commercials promoting the annual event.

He continued, "This group is full of outstanding musicians, including the phenomenal drummer and founding member of Y&T, one of my all-time favorite bands. We always have fun onstage, and we’re looking forward to taking the audience along for the ride."

HazeXperience Poised To Catch Fire
Legendary Y&T Drummer Leonard Haze Unveils Monster New Lineup

Oakland, California—July 12, 2014—Groove-heavy rock and roll machine HazeXperience, anchored by legendary Y&T drummer Leonard Haze, is preparing to play a string of live dates in advance of returning to the studio to record the follow-up to their 2012 debut album, Not Purple. The first show is scheduled for July 19 at Bobby D's in Redwood City, CA.

The July 19 club date is not just another show, however. It is also the debut of Haze's hand-selected new lineup. Haze has stacked HazeXperience with a group of highly-talented, experienced musicians, including guitarist Jimmy DK, bassist David Blakely, keyboardist Ace Olfré, and vocalist Jeffrey Winslow.

"I'm excited to start playing shows with this band," said Haze. "I would put this group of musicians up against any five, secure in the knowledge we would hold our own and then some."

Leonard Haze was a founding member and one of the principal songwriters for hard rock band Y&T, co-writing some of their biggest hits, including "Hurricane," "Black Tiger," "Mean Streak," "Rescue Me," "Dirty Girl," "Forever," and MTV staple "Summertime Girls." He subsequently recorded and performed with the likes of Ronnie Montrose, Tony Iommi, Ian Gillan, and many others. As a member of the Ian Gillan Band, Haze embarked on a two-year world tour and performed in 71 countries.

Jimmy DK has been rocking northern California stages for the better part of 37 years as both a guitarist and bassist. He brought his bass skills to the Byrnie Baker Band, Luvhed, and others, and has played guitar and served as songwriter/arranger with a variety of high-profile local acts for decades, including Ossumpossum, Earlydaze, and The Side Effects. He has opened for acts such as the Chambers Brothers and Elvin Bishop.

Bassist David Blakely holds down the bottom end with a fierceness born of his years funking it up with members of Levert, Dazz Band, and George Clinton. He has performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band Sammy's Good Eye, and counts Yo-Yo Ma, Soundgarden, the Beatles, Sly & the Family Stone, and King's X among his nearly endless list of favorite artists.

A modern day wizard of electronic and acoustic keyboards, Ace Olfré sets a standard by which others are measured. He is known for his fusion of rock with a myriad of musical styles including pop, latin, jazz, and world music. He has written and recorded with the likes of music producer Kim Fowley (The Runaways, Alice Cooper, KISS) and rock guitar impresario Mike Pinera (Iron Butterfly, Black Oak Arkansas, Alice Cooper).

Jeffrey Winslow got his start in the San Francisco Bay Area rock music scene, but really came into his own as a multi-dimensional vocalist fronting Santa Barbara funk-rock quintet Psycho Graffiti and two gospel choirs. During that time, he earned the nickname "Motown" for the influence of that signature, soulful R&B sound on his rock vocal style. Winslow is best known for his work as the lead vocalist for Syrym, selling albums worldwide and appearing in magazines and on radio with songs like "Ugly On The Inside," "Foul Mouth Blues," and "What I'm Trying To Say."

About the Band (Full Version)

HazeXperience is a groove-heavy rock and roll band based in the San Francisco Bay Area, anchored by legendary Y&T drummer Leonard Haze. Haze has hand-selected a group of highly-talented, experienced musicians that raise the sonic bar and put on a great show. Their modern twist on the classic rock sound is extremely fresh, yet immediately recognizable.

Leonard Haze is an American-born rock drummer and songwriter. He is a founding member and one of the principal songwriters for the Bay Area hard rock band Yesterday & Today, later known as Y&T. He co-wrote some of their biggest hits, including "Hurricane," "Black Tiger," "Mean Streak," "Rescue Me," "Dirty Girl," "Forever," and MTV staple "Summertime Girls."

Y&T recorded their first record when Haze was 20, with Haze writing a majority of the lyrics and a good share of the music, as would be the case for many of the band's subsequent releases. Haze's playing was deeply influenced by drummers such as Ringo Starr, Ginger Baker, John Bonham, and Denny Carmassi, while his songwriting was heavily influenced by his love of the songs of The Beatles, whose album Yesterday and Today was referenced by Haze and unintentionally became his group's moniker.

Through his work with producer Chris Tsangarides on Y&T's Mean Streak, Leonard was contacted by Ian Gillan, singer for the legendary Deep Purple. Gillan reached out to Haze to play drums on his album Toolbox. A great camaraderie developed during the recording sessions, and Gillan asked Haze to join the band. Haze was part of one of the first rock bands ever to not only perform, but tour, behind the "Iron Curtain," traversing the Soviet Union during the cold war. After that tour, Haze became a permanent member of the Ian Gillan band, continuing with a two-year world tour and performing in 71 countries.

In 2002, Haze reunited with Y&T and went back on tour with them throughout the United States until they parted ways in 2006.

Guitarist Jimmy DK has been rocking San Francisco Bay Area stages for the better part of 37 years. A native of the San Francisco peninsula, he got his start as the bassist in the band Siphuncle, and followed that up with stints on guitar with Dungeon Demons, Southbound, and Hangin' On.

Jimmy brought his bass skills to the Byrnie Baker Band in 1977, continuing to hold down the bottom end until 1980. He also co-wrote songs that appeared on the band's 1983 album, Certified Rock and Roll.

As the guitarist with country rock act Ossumpossum for the past 20 years, Jimmy has opened for the Byrnie Baker Band, California Cowboys, Chambers Brothers, and Elvin Bishop, among others. Ossumpossum occasionally take the stage with guest artists such as steel guitar virtuoso Bobby Black (Commander Cody, Norton Buffalo, Asleep At The Wheel) and highly-regarded guitarist Herschel Yatovitz (Chris Isaak), as well.

Jimmy has worked as guitarist and songwriter/arranger for several local songwriters over the last 10 years, as well as more recently handling guitars and management for TOR, The Side Effects, and Earlydaze. He also was the bassist for Luvhed from 2010-2012, regularly appearing at Bay Area venues such as the Rockit Room, Stork Club, St. James Gate, The Bistro, and 19 Broadway, and at special events such as the SF Aids Run Concert.

When he has a few moments free from his post with HazeXperience, Jimmy serves as the bassist with MaCaJo, a vocal trio that hails from the South Bay.

Hailing from northeast Ohio, David Blakely holds down the bottom end with a fierceness born of his years funking it up with members of Levert, Dazz Band, and George Clinton. If he can sing it he can play it, and over the past 35 years he has, handling bass duties in bands that have run the gamut from rock to pop, grunge to reggae, R&B to blues, and everything in-between.

David started out playing the trombone in the fourth grade, then tried guitar in junior high school, but didn't really like it. Then when he was 16 he heard "I Don't Need No Doctor" by Humble Pie, and he has been playing bass ever since.

When he was young, he listened to blues, R&B, soul, jazz, rock, and just about anything else he could get his hands on, gravitating toward Sly & the Family Stone, Mandrill, Jimmy Castor Bunch, and the Isley Brothers. He now counts Yo-Yo Ma, Soundgarden, the Beatles, Frank Zappa, James Brown, George Clinton, Korn, Michael Jackson, King's X, Bach, and a nearly endless list of other artists as favorites.

David has played at a number of famous venues. Among his favorites are the Blossom Music Center (Cuyahoga Falls, OH), the Cubby Bear (Chicago, IL), Wetlands (NYC), the Fox Theatre (Detroit, MI), Rick's All-American Cafe (Ann Arbor, MI), and a performance with Sammy's Good Eye at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland, OH).

A true student of his instrument, David's bass playing is influenced by Jaco Pastorius ("who beat the shit outta me in a vicious game of ping pong"), John Entwistle, James Jamerson, Ray Brown, Tony Levin, Larry Graham, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, and John Wetton.

Jeffrey Winslow got his start in the San Francisco Bay Area rock music scene of the late '80s, performing with bands such as Killer Instinct and Scattergun. But he really came into his own as a multi-dimensional vocalist in Santa Barbara, fronting funk-rock quintet Psycho Graffiti, as well as two gospel choirs. During that time, he earned the nickname "Motown" for the influence of that signature, soulful R&B sound on his vocal style. And it's his ability to bring that influence to his performance of hard rock music that truly sets him apart.

Since returning to the Bay Area, Winslow has repeatedly been called upon to provide vocals for studio sessions, has written and performed music for television and radio commercials, and held down lead vocal duties for East Bay hard rockers Vertigo, 3rd & King, and Syrym. As the vocalist for Syrym, Winslow has sold albums worldwide and appeared in magazines and on radio with songs like "Ugly On The Inside," "Foul Mouth Blues," and "What I'm Trying To Say."

Some of Winslow’s vocal and musical influences include Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Jackie Wilson, Billy Joel, and Elton John. He is also a big fan of numerous other artists, including John Mayer, Jeff Scott Soto, Tesla, Gavin DeGraw, Fall Out Boy, Twenty One Pilots, and Aranda.
